Airport Transportation
The best way to get to your downtown hotel from the airport is by shuttle bus.  This can be arranged with your hotel before arrival.  You can also take one of the many taxis located outside of the main entrance of the airport.  To avoid being overcharged, make sure that the meter is working as soon as the driver begins to drive.  A cheap way to get to your hotel from the airport is to take the public bus, which stops at CAAC headquarters.  From there, you can take a taxi to your hotel.

CAR RENTAL
There are no car rental agencies at the airport.  Chauffeur-driven vehicles are available at most deluxe hotels.

TAXI SERVICE
Taxis are available for the day from the major hotels.  They are relatively inexpensive and comfortable.  Make sure that you arrange a taxi through the hotel, as it is almost impossible to hail one in the streets.

Most of the deluxe hotels  provide their own limousine service.  You can prearrange to have a limousine pick you up at the airport upon arrival.

Buses
City buses are a very inxepensive way to move about the city.  They are usually crowded.  You will need a map with all the routes, as all of the announcements are made in Chinese.
